The story behind the French perfumes from Chloé
Chloé was founded by Gaby Aghion in Paris in 1952. Gaby was a pioneer in luxury designer fashion, and is said to have introduced the concept of Prêt-à-porter, as a counterpart to haute couture.< /p>
Chloé ready-to-wear designs consisted of fine and light fabrics to create feminine and playful styles that required as little alteration as possible. This was especially in contrast to the rigid guidelines for made-to-measure designs, where everything had to be sewn to measure and adjusted.
Gaby introduced the first Chloé collection in 1956 at Le Café de Flore, a favorite café of many well-known artists in Paris, and ever since, Chloé's feminine and light designs have been strongly trend-setting. p>
Chloé and Karl Lagerfeld collaboration
To strengthen the Chloé brand, Gaby and her business partner hired new, younger designers to provide inspiration and ideas for new collections. In 1963, the talented and young German designer, Karl Lagerfeld, came to the Chloé studio and just a few years later he took over as chief designer for the brand.
Lagerfeld designed collections from 1964 to 1983 and again from 1992 to 1997, and with his vision he made Chloé an iconic designer brand during the 1970s. In 1975, the first perfume, Chloé by Chloé, was launched in collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, whose name the perfume also goes by, as Chloé by Karl Lagerfeld.
The original Chloé perfume was floral and feminine, oozing romance and sensuality. To this day, the perfume is also referred to as Chloé's signature perfume, and with good reason, Chloé by Karl Lagerfeld is still among the top 10 perfumes for women. The signature perfume must be said to have laid the very foundation for the subsequent Chloé fragrances with its feminine and intoxicating scent of tuberose.
