YOOP! is a German clothing, perfume and cosmetics brand founded by Wolfgang Joop in 1987. It started as a brand in Germany, but is now present in more than 30 countries worldwide. However, Wolfgang Joop had previously published designs under his own name, but it was not until 1987 that the brand JOOP! became a trademark.

The first perfumes from JOOP! is still a success
Wolfgang Joop used his own surname for the brand, but deliberately chose to put an exclamation mark after it, in order to distance himself from the brand itself. Wolfgang Joop was inspired by designs with tight lines, and got inspiration from fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Donna Karen. At first the brand only made clothes, but in the late 1980s they could also write perfumes on their CV.
JOOP!'s first perfume was a ladies perfume which was named JOOP! Female. Later, more perfumes were added, and today they are also particularly known for their perfumes for men, such as JOOP! Homme, which was launched in 1989, and is still incredibly popular.

The story behind the brand JOOP!
Before Wolfgang Joop became successful with the brand JOOP! he had worked as a fashion journalist for many years. In addition, he has also always had a great interest in art, and has himself exhibited drawings in many galleries and museums around Germany, such as the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg. In 1987, Wolfgang Joop was also appointed honorary professor of design at the University of Berlin. Later, he also starred in films, and in 2014 and 2015 participated as a judge in Germany's Next Top Model together with the German model Heidi Klum.
Wolfgang sold back in 1998 95% of his share of JOOP! to the company Wünsche Group for what corresponded to around 518 million Danish kroner. However, he himself stayed with the company as Chief Designer for a few years before eventually selling the remaining 5% of his stake. After this, Wolfgang Joop focused on his own high fashion brand Wunderkind, while the brand JOOP! it lives on today with the newest owners, Holy Fashion Group, who still develop perfumes, clothes and bags under the brand JOOP! to the great delight of all of us who love their perfumes.
