Schwarzkopf
Schwarzkopf is a German brand founded by Hans Schwarzkopf all the way back in 1898. However, the brand was then far from what we know it as today, where it is among the best-known hairdressing brands. Hans Schwarzkopf was a renowned pharmacist and chemist in Berlin, and started out by opening a small pharmacy which also sold perfumes. Hans Schwarzkopf was not enthusiastic about the oils and soaps that were then used in the bath to wash hair, and he was therefore inspired to come up with a better solution. The first product in Schwarzkopf's range, which came into the world in 1903, was thus a powder shampoo that was dissolved in water. The new Schwarzkopf shampoo was an instant hit. By 1904, the shampoo had become so sought after that every pharmacy in Berlin sold it, and in addition it was distributed to both Holland and Russia. It was not until 1927 that the first liquid shampoo was invented by Schwarzkopf, and the demand for it was so great that Schwarzkopf chose to open the Schwarzkopf Institute for Hair Hygiene. Schwarzkopf helped revolutionize the German market, and also invented a method in 1947 by which women could get their hair permed without having to heat it up to 100 degrees. In the same year, Poly Color was also released, which was not only the first Schwarzkopf color for the home, but the very first home color ever and in 1949 Schwarzkopf could celebrate having won a gold medal for his invention. Schwarzkopf then revolutionized again in 1955, by inventing the first liquid hairnet, better known as hairspray. This invention made it easier for the women who no longer needed hairnets to hold their hair. A few sprays of Taft, which became the name of the new product, and the hair sat as it should. Schwarzkopf is growing bigger and bigger in the European market, and keeps renewing their hair care ranges with innovative inventions and ideas. In 1969, Schwarzkopf launches Igora Toning, which becomes the first salon Schwarzkopf hair color mousse in Europe and made hair coloring easier for both hairdressers and customers. Since then, their Schwarzkopf hair colors in particular have gone through innovative developments that have only made them better and better. Again in 1988, Poly Soft Toner was released, which consists of a liquid Schwarzkopf hair color that comes in a lot of intensive and modern colors. In 1995, Schwarzkopf was acquired by the Henkel group, and Schwarzkopf is now seriously one of the largest European retailers of hair products. Later, many Schwarzkopf products were added, which we know from their range to this day. In the year 2000, Schwarzkopf Professional came out with OSIS, as a styling line of products for professional hairdressers, which includes both wax, hairspray, volume products and much more. The brand then came out in 2004 with the got2b series, which is a line strongly targeted at young men and women. In addition, the Schwarzkopf Gliss series has also been popular since it came out in 2006, where the content of keratin has helped many women to rebuild and strengthen damaged hair.
